Photocatalytic Treatment of Emerging Contaminants with Ag-Modified Titania—Is There a Risk Arising from the Degradation Products?

Bisphenol A, bisphenol S, and fluconazole are environmental contaminants widely found in surface waters because of their extensive usage low biodegradability. Therefore, other methods often considered for the removal these compounds. The present study aims at photodegradation with use UV light three different catalysts, ZnO, TiO2, Ag-TiO2. results obtained show that photocatalytic compounds is also problematic such as ZnO increasing concentrations mostly leads to lower degradation tested modification TiO2 silver increases both bisphenols up 100%, which was achieved 60 min by A little 10 S. Nevertheless, remained same level, not exceeding 70% min, i.e., still much than expected. In addition, products hydroxylation destruction phenolic rings, while no were during test fluconazole. Although potentially genotoxic product found, acute toxicity formed differs comparison parent bisphenols.
